Biography
Sugarplum Fairies is the moniker of Vienna native Silvia Ryder, supplemented by an array of rotating guest musicians. The sound of SPF bridges the transatlantic gap with an amalgamation of European pop sensibilities and waltzing Americana folk rock, all tied together by Ryder’s evocative vocals. On her latest album, ‘Payday Flowers’, Sugarplum Fairies veers from sleepy shoegaze to eclectic Vaudeville, featuring Lee Hazlewood reminiscent horn arrangements alongside languid soundscapes. ‘Payday Flowers’ features Ken Coomer (Wilco) on drums, Jebin Bruni (Public Image Ltd, Fiona Apple) on keyboards, Jeff McElroy (Howlin’ Rain) on bass, and Danny T. Levin (Iggy Pop, Rilo Kiley) on horns. The album was produced and mixed by Marlon Rabenreither (Gold Star), and mastered by Timothy Stollenwerk (Ariel Pink, The Dandy Warhols).
