Biography

Born and raised in Delhi, India, Dhruv Rajpal, known professionally as DRV, is known for delivering his signature new school rap influenced sound (often touted as ‘mumble rap’) within the Indian Hip Hop soundscape and beyond. 
 Born in 1996, Dhruv showed an intense passion towards music as he spent the majority of his teenage years playing lead guitar for the school band. A masterclass with producer Jeff Bhasker inspired Dhruv to take his music career seriously, whilst in law school. As a young producer in the scene, D₹V connected with local rappers to collaborate before realising his own inclination towards writing and performing songs. Singles Chhote Tu Apna Dekh and Nai Chaiye from the self-titled 2020 album Dhruv Rajpal helped establish D₹V as a new voice in the independent music scene. The album received critical acclaim as well as considerable traction and was followed up by earworms Empty with Loka and Cheesecake with Sez on the Beat. Unlock kick started 2021 for D₹V, audiences witnessed dark vibes on Kaala Dil with Sikander Kahlon and collaborations with Darcy and Sidak Singh, described as “crooning vocals on trap beats” by Rolling Stone. 
Sound design for fashion houses like Dhruv Kapoor, multiple mixing-mastering credits and a reputation for delivering power packed features are some musical pursuits of D₹V. Currently, Dhruv is working on his sophomore album amongst other projects and plans to continue pushing boundaries.
