Biography
Gnarfunkel is a Vancouver-based band making waves with their electrifying live shows and unique melangé of musical styles. Their sound incorporates elements of funk, psychedelic rock, hip-hop, Latin rhythms, and eastern tonalities in a sound they dub “west coast funk”. They are known for their outrageous stage antics, and performances that flow seamlessly from start to finish taking audiences on an energetic journey through time and space. Gnarfunkel recorded their debut album “Gnarnia” under the guidance of Juno-nominated producer Tom Dobrzanski during the live music hiatus of 2021. The fan favorite A Million Monkeys was released as the third single in January 2022, which prompted findnoenemy.com to say “I’m not even exaggerating when I say ‘A Million Monkeys’ had me awestruck, covered in goosebumps, and wholly immersed.” The fourth single Too Much Is Never Too Much was released in March and was added to many playlists including “Modern Blues Rock”, curated by Spotify. Gnarfunkel celebrated 4/20 by releasing the fifth and final single from their debut album, Bamboo Bong. “Gnarnia” will be released in May 2022 with a limited edition vinyl pressing with artwork designed by renowned European artist James Fletcher. The album will be supported by a 10 day Canadian tour featuring stops in BC and Alberta as well as the band’s first shows in Eastern Canada. The Gnarnia Tour will climax with a show at Vancouver's renowned Hollywood Theater.
