Biography
Shrinking Violet is a project started by 21-year-old Constantinos Gallis in early 2018. He draws influence from Brian Eno, Radiohead and The National, writing and recording completely independently from his home studio in Athens, Greece, and his dorm room at Stanford University. To establish a connection with his hometown of Athens, Gallis explored different areas of the city and created Experiences in a Changing City: An Inquiry Into 10 Neighbourhoods of Greater Athens, along with over 30 art pieces. The album is an alt-rock and electronic album, in which the songs are directly influenced by stories from 10 Athens residents. Over the course of the last four years, Constantinos has independently written, recorded and released two bodies of ambient music; the self-titled Shrinking Violet EP, and The Fourth Way. He has also released standalone singles such as Lilies. Gallis also released his sophomore album in collaboration with Nelly Daze. The album was a mature progression from his debut, with more stripped back instrumentals, melancholy topics, and emotional lyrics reflecting the quarantine period and the uncertainty of the years ahead. He is now beginning to seriously explore ambient and drone music, and will release a series of instrumental albums in the next few years. (constantinosgallis.com)
