Biography
Erica Cody is a singer, songwriter, producer from a small seaside town, in North Dublin, Ireland. Drawn to music at a young age, Erica started writing her own songs from the age of 7. 90s RnB heavyweights like Aaliyah, Brandy & many more inspired Erica as a child, continue to influence her music now. In 2017 a hugely well-received collaboration with national broadcaster RTE - The RTÉ Concert Orchestra “Story of Hip Hop” - thrust Erica into the national spotlight. Erica released her debut EP “Leoness” in 2019 and embarked on a nationwide tour, playing concerts and festivals across the country including Ireland’s biggest end-of summer music festival, Electric Picnic. Growing up in a predominantly white country, Erica recounts her experience of being mixed race in Ireland on her song “Where U Really From.” A thematic throughout her music, Erica has spoken out, raised awareness and educated others on everyday racism in Ireland. Most recently, Erica collaborated on the enormously successful Irish Women In Harmony Created by RuthAnne, the project brought together 40 of Ireland’s top and up & coming female Irish artists. They recorded a cover of The Cranberries, Dreams re-worked and recorded remotely in aid of Safe Ireland, the national social change agency working to end domestic abuse and coercive control in Ireland. With nearly 2 million streams (and counting) on Spotify, extensive airplay and a performance on national TV, the collaboration was a huge success.
