Biography
Guatemalan pop/rock band Radio Viejo was formed in 1989 by singer Luilly Donis, drummer William Girón, and guitarists José Ordoñez and Giovani López; they were later joined by bass player Mauricio Ordoñez. They debuted on a local radio station chart with a song called "Tú La Tienes Que Olvidar." After Mauricio Ordoñez decided to leave the band, bassist Rolando Amado joined, recording Claroscuro, which was released by the independent label Primera Generación and featured the local hits "Angel" and "Una Cerveza Más." In 1994, Radio Viejo joined a Guatemalan rock festival, which was recorded and issued on CD under the name of Libertad de Expresión Ya. They opened for the Argentinean band the Sacados and the Mexican band Magneto soon after. In 1997, the group recorded Feria Paraíso. Two years later they participated in a local festival based on acoustic performances called Atmósfera Omplog, which was then recorded and released by BMG-Ariola. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
