Biography
With a nonstop flow and a gift for storytelling, Dallas rapper Lil 2z arrived with the 2018 studio album debut Finally. Several of his songs rose to viral status, leading to collaborations with other rappers and a wider audience for his 2019 release 6 AM. Lil 2z was born Angelo Zimmerie in Dallas, Texas. He began uploading original songs online in 2016, starting out with several stand-alone tracks like "Watch Who You Trust." Before the end of 2016, he issued his first mixtape, Golden Child, and followed it up the next year with second mixtape Cujo. The latter release included the rapper's breakthrough song "Head Above Water," which was streamed millions of times and had an accompanying video that achieved similar exposure. From there, Lil 2z's acclaim escalated. His first studio album, Finally, appeared in 2018, including several songs that caught fire on streaming platforms. Before the end of the year, a new mixtape, Livin' 2 Fast, arrived. This project also scored some songs that streamed millions of times. In 2019, he released two mixtapes, the somewhat low-key The Jungle and the more refined 6 AM. In late 2019, Lil 2z contributed a verse to LilCJ Kasino's single "Nick to a Brick." ~ Fred Thomas
