Biography
“If the Halloween town of Tim Burton’s ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ had a resident keyboardist, it would be Kristen Lawrence.” – Keyboard Magazine Kristen writes Halloween music – Halloween Carols™, specifically. She is a classically trained organist who writes with a modern edge, influenced by centuries of musicians from J.S. Bach to Danny Elfman. Kristen's new album, "Hallowe'en: Night of Spirits," is a casket of trick-or-treat delights -- a wide variety of music flavors designed to satisfy a wide variety of Halloween freaks. Her previous album, "Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Raven,'" features her setting of all 18 verses of this famous poem, a tantalizing composition that will appeal to Poe lovers and Halloween appreciators of all ages. A Halloween aficionado, Kristen studied the holiday’s history and decided that Halloween deserves its own original carols. To date, she has over 70 Halloween Carols™ written and continually adds to her collection. Each carol is waiting its turn to be recorded and released. Kristen grew up in the temperate trick-or-treating weather of Orange County, California. Her beloved black cat, “Molly Macabre the Halloween Cat,” passed away at midnight on July 6, 2014. Though deceased, Molly continues to be an influence on Kristen's music. Molly was a featured “vocalist” in the song, “Cats In The Catacombs,” from Kristen’s CD, “A Broom With A View.” For more on Kristen and her Halloween Carols™, visit HalloweenCarols.com
