A finalist in BBC Radio 2’s Young Choristers of the Year 2019, Cai has sung with the choir of St Thomas-on-The Bourne since the age of 7 In July 2019, Cai and his family took the brave step of independently crowdfunding his first album through Kickstarter, with the support of producers Simon Kiln, Robert Lewis and British label Rubicon Classics. The crowdfunding was an astonishing success, raising nearly £30,000 from backers all over the world Cai’s debut album was released on 27 March 2020 and includes a wonderful selection of music, from Handel to Karl Jenkins to Gjeilo. Its title ‘Seren’, meaning ‘Star’ in Welsh and the inclusion of tracks such as traditional lullaby ‘Suo-Gân’ pay tribute to Cai’s proud Welsh heritage Cai’s singles have reached prime spots on Spotify and Apple Music playlists, with Cai declared ‘a brilliant young talent’ by Classic FM’s John Suchet and chosen by Charlotte Hawkins as one of her’ Young Classical Stars’. Seren was both a Classic FM and Scala radio album of the week, and has featured on BBC radio, ITV and S4C An accomplished soloist, Cai regularly performs both locally and during choir tours in European cathedrals. In 2019 he performed with Sir Karl Jenkins for a live Classic FM broadcast of his world premiere of ‘Miserere’; with Excelsis and the London Mozart Players at Grayshott Concerts; and Grove of Narberth, Wales
