Biography
Portuguese recording artist Pedro Khima did not waste much time making his way to the top of national charts. His debut record landed a spot in Portuguese Top 20 in the year of its release, 2007. Khima knew from an early age that he wanted a life and career in music. By the age of 14, he was performing regularly, playing the repertoire of American rock legends like Nirvana, INXS, the Pixies, and more. It was only a short time later that he discovered his passion for composition and songwriting. His first group, of which he was the primary writer and frontman, debuted in 2001 with the record Stereo-Jukebox. The band Sally Lune performed all English-language material, which the group loved and their Portuguese audience was less fond of. Though the group experienced some success, Khima soon elected to go solo and perform music written in his native tongue. He began writing the material that would comprise his solo debut in 2004. Ultimately released in 2007, the record Pedro Khima produced the single "Esfera," which became the theme song for a popular Portuguese telenovela. The use of the track as a television theme won the newcomer a coveted spot on Portuguese Billboard charts, remaining in the Top 20 for months on end. Thanks to the success of "Esfera," other album singles like "O Gesto Que é Meu" and "Saltar Até" enjoyed regular airplay and public acceptance. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez, Rovi
