Like her musical heroes, Áine’s own music is frank and searingly honest. She isn’t afraid to commit her sharp observations of people to song, and it’s a formula that’s clearly resonating with her growing fanbase: independent releases Black Dahlia and Plastic have collectively amassed over 1 million streams on Spotify. “It’s daunting to put something out, so it’s so cool to see positive comments, like people telling me my music helped them get through a breakup… I'm this girl from a small town in Ireland!” In person Áine is hilariously outspoken, while in song, her voice is thrillingly soulful. “If I’m honest in my music and people relate to it, that’s so much more gratifying to me. If people relate to my music then I’m fucking delighted, but the last thing I’d do is sit in a songwriting session thinking, 'will anyone like it if I say this?' I’m not writing to a brief or catering to what people want, I’m here to have my own sound, my own space.”
