Biography

Pennsylvania-raised and LA-based singer-songwriter, Julia Campbell, found solace and an outlet for expression in music at a young age, utilizing writing as a tool for articulating the deepest parts of her emotional world. Her love for music began with singing along to Avril Lavigne in her carseat, riding with the windows down to her father’s tape of the Monkees, and sitting across from her mother as she listened to her dissect Joni Mitchell lyrics. Julia’s sound has also been greatly influenced by artists such as Lorde, Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine, Clairo, and Adrienne Lenker. At 14 years old, she harnessed her passion for music and began teaching herself guitar which now 10 years later has grown into converting her walk-in closet into a home studio where she spends most of her time writing and teaching herself the ins and outs of production. Julia faces life with an openness that has lead her to expand her worldview, spending 6 months teaching English in China, before driving across country to LA, on her own. Since her arrival in LA, she has spent many evenings attending various concerts alone, quickly integrating herself into the LA music scene where she has begun performing in local showcases around the city. When listening to her writing, you cannot help but feel something, with melodies that stay stuck in your head and lyrics that inevitably remind you what it means to be human.
