Biography
Los Sepultureros (aka Los Sepultureros y Dulce Rosario and Los Tremendos Sepultureros y Mariela) are a pioneering Mexican cumbia band. Among the most influential Mexican cumbia groups of all time, they helped to pioneer the "cumbia rock" movement in the early 1970s by employing electric guitars, synthesizers, organs, and other electronic instruments -- including drum machines. Their biggest hit singles -- "El Ropavejero," "Señorita Cumbia," "Mi Papaito," "Mi Tablita Huija," "Baila Mi Cumbia," and "La Viudita" -- were released between 1972 and 1990, though they have continued as both a wildly popular live act well into the 21st century. Their classic albums include Sabor a Cumbia, Morir di Amor, Camino Nueva, and the compilations 15 Exitos: Historia Musical, Lo Mejor de Lo Sepultureros, and 2016's 20 Exitos de Coleccion. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi
