Biography

A third culture kid growing up in both the East and West, 19-year-old hyejin spent her formative years adapting to ever-changing environments, which cultivated her fixation towards the only thing that remained constant in her life: her love for writing. Inspired by the brutally honest songwriting of Amy Winehouse, SZA, and Joni Mitchell, hyejin combines her anti-romantic, slightly pessimistic lyricism with sticky-sweet, dreamy melodies, embarking on an infectious blend of nostalgia that she calls, “dream-soul.” Her independently released debut EP, WHAT A SHAME!, has quickly garnered a cult following, with multiple singles charting on Spotify’s Viral 50 Philippines, Thailand, and Viral Hit’s Taiwan. hyejin continues to push new sonic boundaries with her latest single, “My Favorite Pillow,” marking the start of a new musical journey–one that encapsulates her coming of age and sincerity, accompanied by longtime collaborator and friend, Lio’s nostalgic yet forward-thinking sound.
