Biography
“It's that intense moment when you just want everything to go away and you want to feel happy - when you're about to start crying and you're like, I'm not gonna cry. I'm not gonna cry. I'm not gonna cry. It's like that feeling.” If ever there was a manifesto for Astrid S’s debut album, "Leave It Beautiful", this is it. Taking the various facets of heart-ache and spinning them into something glitter-strewn and dance-floor ready, she’s created something that not only helped her to deal with her emotions in real time, but also announces her as a global pop star ready to knit broken hearts together with streamers and invite everyone to dance their pain away. Astrid S grew up on pop music. Raised in a small town in Norway, 2000s-era Casio beats and melismatic diva vocals filtered down from the big cities to her tweenage ears and thrilled her. The bombastic, unashamedly over the top songs were a larger-than-life blueprint, combined with contemporary styles to create her own brand of pop. Astrid’s early work tested her strengths, taking “things I’ve learned as a young adult” and putting them into words and pop bangers that nabbed her Norwegian Grammys, support slots with Years & Years, Troye Sivan and Zara Larsson, a billion streams and a dedicated coterie of fans. This lead to her debut album, Leave It Beautiful, where Astrid S gets personal, takes a firm step in the direction of superstardom and leaves her doubts behind. The album is released October 16th 2020.
