Biography
Brolle, also known as Brolle Jr., is a Swedish pop/rock singer who rose to fame in 2001 on the television reality show Popstars. He embarked on a solo career the following year, hitting the upper reaches of the Swedish singles chart with regularity. Born Kjell Junior Wallmark on November 10, 1981, in Boden, Sweden, he made his commercial recording debut in 2002 with the single "Playing with Fire." The song was a smash hit, reaching number three on the Swedish singles chart, and its follow-up single, "Heartbreak City," was also a smash hit, reaching number six. Brolle then made his full-length album debut with Rebellious Heart (2002), a Top Ten hit including the aforementioned singles. A few years removed from Brolle's appearance on Popstars, his second album, Paradise Will Wait (2004), failed to rival the popularity of its predecessor. It was nonetheless fairly successful from a commercial standpoint, however, reaching number 16 on the albums chart and spawning the Top Five hit "Sound of a Drum" and the Top 20 hit "Watching the Stars." Third album Brolle Jr Tolkar Cornelis, En Stund På Jorden (2005), a Swedish-language collection of Cornelis Vreeswijk covers, marked an even sharper downturn in Brolle's popularity, spawning no hits and stalling at number 25 on the charts. Fourth album Ett Hjärta Som Glöder, Som en Gång Brann (2008), his first album credited to simply Brolle rather than Brolle Jr., was another Swedish-language effort. Unlike its predecessor, however, it was a blockbuster success, breaking Brolle into the Top Five of the albums chart for the first time and spawning several singles. "Det Är Hon" proved especially popular, going all the way to number two on the singles chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
