Biography
Kaliopi is one of the biggest and most original artists and vocalists in the Balkan region. In her long and fruitful career alongside with her specific voice timbre, exceptionally powerful and emotional interpretation, and as an author of huge hits for herself and other singers, she set high standards and left a lasting stamp on the music, becoming a favorite of her people and Balkan music Diva. Her first success and popularity in the countries of former Yugoslavia came with the band "Kaliopi",founded by Romeo Grill, composer and producer with whom she successfully cooperates even today. In 1999 Kaliopi started her solo career. She has released 15 albums and a large number of singles, has held numerous concerts, has performed in all major concert halls in the former Yugoslavia and more widely,has participated in major festivals and has won numerous awards and recognitions. At the invitation of the MRT she represented Macedonia twice at the Eurosong, and her song "Crno i belo" became an absolute global hit. As a singer and author Kaliopi has also collaborated on many other diverse projects - composes music for film, theater and ballet, plays in the first Macedonian musical, participates in several ethno-jazz projects. One of the most significant collaborations is with the world-famous guitarist and lute player Edin Karamazov - the album "Oblivion". Later, she also appeared on his album "The Lute is a Song'' together with world names Sting,Renné Fleming and Andreas Sholl.
