Biography
Derrick Ddungu a.k.a Rickman Manrick started his music career professionally in 2017 with his first single “Vänner” a Swedish word meaning Friends. In the song he talks about how friends come and go and how some friends become family. In early 2018, Rickman recorded his first Ugandan track called “Naki” that captured souls around kampala and Uganda at large amidst his absence, “Naki” was a club banger and left listeners yearning for more tracks from Rickman. He later released “Wakanda” which grew his fan base all the way to Europe. “Wakanda” had a zouk touch and a creative word play that had Ugandans all over the world wondering how Rickman comes up with such interesting words. The song was inspired by the marvel movie Wakanda. He later released “Tuula wansi” the Ugandan version of Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble”. Thereafter came “Basumbuyi” which became a popular slang in uganda and then “Kampala” for the love of the city he was born. In the beginning of the year 2019 Rickman released “Bango” a song that stayed on top of Ugandan music chats for more than 7months. Bango was sensational. It became a word that was used in the daily lives of Ugandans. The song Bango saw Rickman Manrick rubbing shoulders with the African Giants on the Ugandan Apple Top 100 chat being number 2 after Burna Boy’s “On the low”.With his amazing word play, Rickman blessed the party life in Uganda with another anthem “Tunyumirwe”.Rickman is now one of Uganda’s favorite artist despite him living in Sweden
