Biography
Antony & Cleopatra are the product of a pop writing session gone astray into deep electronic / dance territory. The London-based duo are comprised of pop veterans "Antony" (Alexander Burnett, Australian songwriter, producer & Sparkadia frontman) & "Cleopatra" (Anita Blay, UK songwriter, formerly Cocknbullkid). Kicking off in 2014, they have since partnered with Motez, Lancelot, Jaded, Black Caviar, Nicky Night Time, Sammy Bananas & Moon Boots. Their collab with dance producer Motez spawned The Future, which achieved gold status & 16M streams on Spotify alone. However it’s their solo material that sets them apart: experimental jams such as Sirens & Take Me solidified their musical landscape, while hits Dust & Twitch garnered love from triple j & fans alike. In 2017 they were invited to tour with Alison Wonderland, performed at Australia’s biggest festival Splendour in the Grass, & played with Riton & Kahlo. In 2018 the duo released their acclaimed debut Hurt Like Hell EP, with the eponymous lead track reaching A list on triple j. 2019 saw the pair experiment with new sounds, teaming up with Jaded & Black Caviar on Slippin (via Don Diablo's Hexagon) plus new single Why Don't You Just Call Me. Both are set to go off on dancefloors during their May / June 2019 tour. "A total sun-out-windows-open-volume-up discohouse thunderer" – Popjustice "Antony & Cleopatra find beauty in simplicity" – Complex "Bringing a touch of class to the global electronic music scene" – Pile Rats
