Biography

Since our formation in 1997, the Ransom Notes have been striving for musical excellence and endeavoring to realize our goals of crafting truly unique art through a cappella performance. In our many years of existence, we have competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) almost every possible season – garnering many awards and advancing to the ICCA Finals – toured the country many times, and released six studio albums. In 2022, we won 1st place at our ICCA Great Lakes Quarterfinal, winning Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Arrangement in the 2022 season. While we have grown to new heights in recent years, honing and revamping our sound and style to best continue to achieve our musical aspirations, one thing has never changed: at the end of the day, we're just a group of UChicago students who love to sing and spend time with each other.
