Biography
Aiza is a Certified Afro-Bop Queen steadily building her empire. The Montreal-born, Toronto-based singer’s live performances are filled with explosive, positive energy and her uplifting, playful lyrics spark comparisons to other bad-ass trailblazing women such as Lizzo and Janelle Monáe. While conquering stages across Canada, Aiza has become a fixture on the small screen, landing roles in Netflix’s Jupiter’s Legacy, CBC’s Workin’ Moms and the JUNO-nominated animated series Jeremy & Jazzy. Her songs have also appeared in numerous shows like Tuca & Bertie, Selling Tampa, Ginny and Georgia and Too Hot to Handle. In 2022, while providing the finishing touches to a body of new music written during the pandemic, Aiza also produced, wrote, directed, and co-hosted the series Real Blackity Talk for CBC Gem with her sister Kamana, celebrating the perspectives and experiences of Black women and non-binary Black people in Canada. It won “Series of The Year” at the 7th annual Dynasty Gala, and received a nomination for “Best Host, Web Program or Series” at the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards. Aiza's much anticipated debut album "Sovereignty" is set for release on September 27, 2023.
