Biography
Winner in the ‘Révélation’ category of the Victoires de la Musique Classique 2016, trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary displays a dual talent in both the classical and jazz genres. Born in France in 1999, Lucienne developed an early affinity for the trumpet and enrolled at the Conservatory of Le Mans in 2007, taking classical and jazz trumpet lessons. In 2014, she entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, first in the classical department and then, in 2017, in the jazz department. She is the first student to participate in both courses. As a Warner artist, Lucienne released her first album in autumn 2017: The Voice of the Trumpet, with Orchestre National de Lille and Rolando Villazón. Her second album Mademoiselle in New York, recorded with BBC Concert Orchestra under Bill Elliott, was released in 2019. In the same year, Lucienne received the Arthur Waser Preis, becoming the first woman ever awarded this prize. She has performed with such orchestras as Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Kanazawa Ensemble, London Chamber Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Munich Symphoniker, Ural Philharmonic Orchestra, and Les Violons du Roy; in many festivals, including Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Jazz in Marciac, and Cartagena Music Festival; and in prestigious halls, such as Concertgebow, Herkulessaal, KKL Luzern, Champs Elysées theater, Teatro Colon, Tokyo Opera House, and Hanoi Opera House.
