Biography
Carson Shmyr is a poet, singer, and multi-instrumentalist from Saskatoon, Canada. He began his music career in 2016 at just 14 years old with his debut single "Chance" recieving airtime on his local pop radio station. Throughout high school he would continue to release music, learning pop and r&b songwriting and production with Capitol Records A&R Roy Hamilton III in Toronto, Canada and later scoring for film and video games with LucasArts sound designer G.W Childs. His 2018 single "Sunday Cartoons" was his first to take off, heavily favoured as a first dance song for weddings. The single would surpass 500,000 total streams before Carson's 16th birthday. With the help of TikTok in the summer of 2019, Carson grew an online following of over 250,000 and released his first EP "Breathe" and album "Requiem" in January and May 2020 respectively. The album's lead-off single "Five Seconds" would be Carson's first track to surpass 1,000,000 streams with over a hundred million sound plays on TikTok. During this time Carson signed to MK's Music Management and moved to Atlanta, GA in May where he spent the rest of 2020 recording his second EP, "i told the moon about u" and audio engineering for the teams rotating roster of artists. In January 2021 Carson stepped into a co-ownership position and MK's rebranded as Horizon Music Group, representing international artists out of Nashville, TN.
