Biography

https://lesliepearl.com I wouldn’t know who I am without music. As a Juilliard harpsichordist, my career started in classical. I was living in Greenwich Village in New York City playing harpsichord for rock artists at Electric Lady Studios, where I got totally swept up into pop music. Writing songs came naturally, and I ended up with a publishing deal at Warner Brothers that earned me some notable cover records. After Warners, I started writing and producing jingles including “The Best Part of Waking Up” for Folgers. Phil Ramone, a producer who’d recorded my songs with Karen Carpenter and Whitney Houston, convinced me to record an album as an artist. RCA signed me, and the first single, “If The Love Fits Wear It” spent four months in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100. Around then, my jingle company had become the go-to jingle house in New York, and I was busy writing and producing other artists, so I never released a second single. I did manage to rack up some awards that I’m proud of: two BMI Million-Air Awards for radio airplay on my songs, and Clios for my Ford and Folgers jingles. Music is still a wild ride and I love every minute of it.
