From the moment we're born
We're being lied to
The second we enter the world
We are up against a tidal wave
Of lies and deceit and sadly we all at some point
Buy into these falsehoods
And we live our lives as if they were true
We live a false narrative
This False Memory Syndrome
We accept lies like "I'm a failure
I'm worthless
I'm not worthy of love
I need to earn acceptance"
We let this poison seep into our hearts
And we sit and we wonder why
Our lives are so riddled with problems
But the truth is so much harder to accept
That there is a God who loves us
Despite our selves
He loves us despite our shortcomings and failures
He loves us despite our rebellion and our disbelief
We wander through life with so much burden and pain
Because we don't have the most
Basic truth in our hearts
This Truth should cause us
To love those around us unconditionally
No matter how different
Or opposite we may be
A love that is patient
Kind, protects, trusts, hopes
Perseveres
A love that's not boastful, prideful
Self-seeking, dishonorable or easily angered
Sadly the love in our world
Seldom looks like this
It's because we forget one of
The promises that God gave us:
