Biography
A side project of Type O Negative members Kenny Hickey and Johnny Kelly, Seventh Void were originally conceived in 2003 during the recording of Type O's Life Is Killing Me. Seventh Void eschew the goth influence found in Type O Negative in favor of a dirtier stoner/doom sound, with Southern metal riffage reminiscent of Pantera combined with the slow, plodding heaviness of Crowbar. The result is like a darker, heavier version of Velvet Revolver, with music that pushes just beyond the boundaries of hard rock and into the realm of metal. By 2005, they had solidified a lineup, with Hickey on guitar and vocals, Kelly on drums, Supermassiv guitarist Matt Brown, and Inhuman bassist Hank Hell. With the pieces in place, they began recording, squeezing in time when they could between Type O Negative albums and touring. Four years in the making, their debut full-length, Heaven Is Gone, was finally released in April of 2009 on Big Vin Records, owned by Pantera's Vinnie Paul. ~ Gregory Heaney, Rovi
