Biography
Notes, chords and melodies emerging from the wild, transforming into songs as wild and gentle as they are electroic and alive. New Zealand-born Singer/Songwriter and Producer Finnegan finds his creativity spiralling around our “yearning to feel more alive”. His musical journey is one that began as a child. Growing up on a bus; travelling from festival to festival with his family. Starting on the fiddle at age 5 followed by picking up guitar at 10 and becoming carried away by the study of harmony and music theory, Finnegan passed both grade 8 and his teaching diploma with distinction and started writing his own songs at 12. The genre-hopping talent later moved to London to pursue jazz and electronic composition with a scholarship at The Guildhall School of Music. Whilst here Tui composed orchestral works for the Tate Modern, Museum of London and Barbican and spent every evening he could developing his skills as a performer in the city. His sound really began when he returned from a journey to the Kalahari desert with a clearer picture of what music and nature meant to him throwing him into the writing of the songs we hear today. Delivering deep folk in an ambitious sonic world has brought him to now – having recently dropped a deeply atmospheric seven-track EP, and award winning Short Film ZEPHYR he embarks on the beginning of an exciting career exploring the power of nature in sound and what it means to be human in song 🦋
