Biography

Anne Chris is a Dutch vocalist and composer, living in Amsterdam. In her music you can hear Jazz & Pop with Latin and Soul influences. To date, Anne Chris has released four albums: ‘Tomorrow is Today’ (2004), ‘Play for Now’ (2010), ‘Just Kissed the Sun’ (2014) and 'Flowing Freely' (2019). This fourth album will take you on a journey through different atmospheres and situations, just as diverse as life can be. The opening song ‘Titanic Ballroom’ puts you in a grim casino-setting with a contagious hook, while ‘Linus Lost’ takes you on a lonely road trip, accompanied by piano. While writing this album Anne Chris let herself ‘go with the flow’. The songs developed naturally, inspired by her surroundings and personal events. She has performed at world-renowned venues such as Bimhuis, North Sea Jazz Festival and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Besides being a jazz-singer Anne Chris loves to sing different music styles, she’s been influenced by artists like Esperanza Spalding, Stevie Wonder and John Mayer. She has toured in Italy, England, Morocco,Turkey, India and Thailand (where the album ‘Play for Now’ was also released). On July 15th Anne Chris' fifth album 'Together' will be released. The album features saxophone player Tineke Postma.
