Brazilian funk, moving from ballad to a reggae bridge, eventually exploding into a majestic African-based Candomblé rhythmic finish as they spiral upwards towards wider acclaim and recognition. Seeing them this close helps to understand just how they cast their musical magic on their audiences. Award-winning Liniker e os Caramelows are hailing from São Paulo, taking their journey from performing at some of Brazil’s major events to the US and Europe. They create a contemporary sound which combines soul music with the tropical heritage of Brazilian MPB (música popular brasileira). Transgender singer Liniker has a spark and she shares it with you. Looking deep into the eyes of the audience – you don’t have to speak Portuguese to be completely entranced by that moment, it’s universal. The band rose to prominence in 2015 with the release of CRU, a three-track EP, earning over 20 million views combined. In 2016, they released their first studio album, REMONTA, winning Brazil´s Breakthrough Act award and placed third in the Rolling Stone Brazil´s Best Album of the Year list. Goela Abaixo is their long awaited second long-player, a deep dive bringing their beautiful song-writing to the next level and is out now, so enjoy!
