Biography
BILL GREEN has been involved in music all his life. At seven, he began playing guitar and piano until reaching high school when football took precedence over music. Upon graduation from high school and All-State football honors, Bill received full athletic scholarships and played football at Sul Ross State and Texas Tech University. In 1972, due to injuries, Bill gave up football and upon graduation from college in 1973, he re-examined his future and began pursuing his music career full time. From 1972-1975, Bill played steel guitar with singer-songwriter and friend, David Price while also spending time in Nashville writing for a publishing company and recording. From 1976-1982, Bill had several singles in the Billboard Charts while also playing bass and fronting for the legendary Johnny Bush. In 1978, Bill formed his own band, the Texas Greats, and toured the Southwest U.S. along with his friends John Wesley Ryles, Becky Hobbs, David Wills, Brian Collins, and Kenny Dale. In 1982, he left the “road” to spend more time with his family and concentrate on the music business and studio production. In addition to his business duties, as a songwriter Bill has had songs recorded by Johnny Bush, Johnny Rodriguez, Doug Kershaw, Georgette Jones, Billy O'Rourke, and others, not to mention three of his own albums which included many of his own songs.
