Biography
With a future-bass discography that incorporates pop-laden melodies with percussive ingenuity, Germany's Mazde holds his own by producing track after track of emotionally evocative music. He first blew up when YouTube tastemaker SuicideSheep premiered his remix of Disclosure's "Help Me Lose My Mind", which has since garnered nearly 90 million views. He followed up with the collaborative EP Mazde X LissA, which earned accolades from THUMP, DUMMY, Clash and more. A versatile artist that derives inspiration from left and right, Mazde's official remix of RÜFÜS DU SOL "Say a Prayer for Me" showcased his penchant for future bass underlined with subdued percussive elements and mellow synth work, amassing a million streams on Soundcloud and Spotify. After achieving a HypeM #1 with his 2016 single "Neverland" featuring Rhode Island rapper Khary, Mazde finished the year on a strong note, releasing "Wicked Winds". Keeping the momentum, this spring he remixed Lemaitre's "Playing To Lose”, a seemingly minimalistic song driven by a haunting bassline and emboldened by otherworldly plucks. Mazde's newest release is a collaboration with long-time musical partner LissA. Following a slew of joint hits over the past few years including Battas, Zimt and 390, the Berlin-based pair now reconvene for what is arguably their finest alliance to date, combining gently chugging synths and arpeggiated harmonies with LissA's unmistakably fragile vocals to devastating effect.
