 When a friend asked Doug Hoyer what his 6th album 'Getting Older' sounded like, he enthusiastically replied: 
 “You know my other 5 albums? It's a lot like those!” 
 While the restless Canadian indie-folkpop songwriter has varied his sonic palette over the past decade, here he is consistently rooted in his wry, playfully reflective songwriting. 'Getting Older' showcases a focus on lyrical precision, needling the thread on topics such as aging, perspective, the Jan 6th capital riots, family, resource extraction in Alberta, and the perennial theme of change.
