Acclaimed songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and Grammy winner Sara Watkins has been a steady fixture over the years in LA and the greater folk and Americana scene. She is a founding member of both Nickel Creek and I’m With Her. I’m With Her (Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan) garnered praise from the NY Times, Rolling Stone, The Guardian and more. The trio recently won Duo/Group of the year by the Americana Music Association and ‘Best American Roots Song’ GRAMMY for “Call My Name” at the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards. In addition to I’m With Her and Watkins’ work in the collaborative group Watkins Family Hour, Watkins has a sizable solo career which sees her boldly stepping into the role of front-woman. Watkins’ new album, Under the Pepper Tree, releases on March 26, 2021 on New West Records. Watkins reflects on Under the Pepper Tree, stating: "I’ve never made a record like this before - a record for children. The concept began in the beginning of the pandemic as we embraced what felt like endless days with our own children and families while sheltering in place. I began a search for songs that ease the shift from day to evening, from the real to the imagined. Many of these songs have been with me since childhood, and returning to them as a parent has reminded me of the magic that happens when we listen with our imaginations. I hope this record fills homes with delight and calm and helps in the transition from day to night, din to dreams and chaos to rest."
