Biography

Formed in October, 2019, The Nicoteens (Latvian- Nikotīņi) is a band from Rīga, Latvia. Many have tried, and many have failed to define The Nicoteens by a single genre- they combine hardcore punk, alternative rock, heavy metal and many other influences in their sound to create their own unique blend of alternative music. 
 The Nicoteens original lineup consisted of Matīss Smīdss (Vocals), Rihards Straume (Drums), Artūrs Valdmanis (Bass), Emīls Strubergs (Lead guitar) and Frederiks Sīlis (Rhythm guitar). From its very beginnings the band has received massive popularity in the local LV “new scene” and praise by critics for their music and their signature high energy live shows. 
 Along with their original rhythm guitarist leaving (going on on to create Lietās), The Nicoteens found a new fit for the position- Krišjānis Vītiņš. With a reformed lineup the band went on to record their debut- “Paaudze” with Emīls Koļesņikovs, member of Tavas Māsas Nāsis throughout early 2021, releasing it on the 24th of June. 
 After the realease of their debut, The Nicoteens announced their first local tour, the “Nikotīņu Dūrienu Tūre”. The band went on to win the alternative music competition “HADRONS 2022”, and subsequently took the stage in many festivals throughout the summer of 2022, including Summersound, Laba Daba, and Kartupeļpalma. The Nicoteens are currently working on their follow up record and have continued actively playing their trademark chaotically energetic live shows ever since.
