Biography
Benjamin Haycock blends melodic, percussive and fingerstyle guitar with honest, personal and accomplished lyricism. He laces this with incredibly tight rap flows and raw, emotive and powerful singing vocals. This is all interwoven to create a truly unique sound, with strong character that derives from growing up in inner city Birmingham and later moving to the Devon Coast as an adult. Starting out, Benjamin was the songwriting front man to an eclectic band which included instrumentation from Little Comet's drummer Nathan Green. In 2018, he released his debut solo EP 'Time's Transgressions'. Off the back of this, he was invited to play at 'Fender Undiscovered' and ‘Ad Week Europe’. In 2021, Benjamin released his single ‘Restlessness’ and his sophomore EP ‘Enigma’s Quay’. Both topped the singer-songwriter charts. Subsequently, he partnered with Australian guitar company 'Maton' and became one of their prestigious artists alongside the likes of John Butler, Tash Sultana, Keith Urban and Neil Finn. Later that year, Benjamin released another single ‘Force for Nature’. The video premiered to over 2,500+ schools as a part of The Tree Council’s environmental campaign, with the song featuring within the prestigious NOTION magazine. He was then commissioned to compose the music for a film at COP26. In 2022, Benjamin released ‘Homeless Winters’ and ‘Pupil’s War’. Both music videos were directed/filmed by Jonathan Pears, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry.
