Biography
A hauntingly authentic storyteller with an ethereal and soaring voice, 22-year-old singer-songwriter Julia Brennan writes masterful music that sets her apart from her pop peers. After quietly uploading a few tracks online in 2016 which her local radio station played, Minneapolis-born Julia had a viral jump-start to her career, leading to her signing deals with Columbia Records and Sony ATV. Soon after, her debut single ‘Inner Demons’ amassed over 11 million streams on Spotify, 8.3 million views on YouTube and earned Julia a spot opening for Andy Grammer on his North American tour. Drawing on her musical lineage (her grandmothers and mum were vocalists), Julia started singing and playing piano when she was only five years old. Journaling and writing soon followed and Julia became a fan of the lamenting sounds of today’s soulful popstars including Adele, Sam Smith, John Legend and Billie Eilish which now influence her own music. With her second EP, ‘honest.’ due for release early 2021, Julia's sound and evocative storytelling has evolved and now reaches even greater heights. Exploring themes of lost love, complex modern relationships and finding her true voice, lead track 'how does it feel' (released September 2020) is a feisty pop song to be reckoned with. To add to the EP’s gravitas, the five songs were written by Julia in collaboration with renowned writers Jenna Andrews (Dua Lipa and Drake), Boy Matthews (Hayden James, Oliver Heldens) and Steve Soloman (James Arthur).
