Biography
Essence of sorrow the Finnish/Swedish based band founded by Jani Stefanovic (Solution .45, Miseration) released their debut album ‘Reflections of the obscure’ in 2006 featuring both Mats Leven (ex.Yngwie Malmsteen, Gus G, ex.Therion, Candlemass) and Christian Palin (Random Eyes, ex.Adagio) on vocals. The debut was recorded in Panic-room studios with long time collaborator Thomas "Plec" Johansson (Watain, Mattias Ia Eklundh, Night Flight Orchestra, Scar Symmetry, Eskimo Callboy ). The debut "Reflections of the obscure" was released through King Records on 21 Dec 2006 Japan / Rivel Records 10th Jan 2007 Europe / The States. With the limited resources from the current label the band faced a fairly limited exposure on the European market. Seeing the potential in the music, Jani gathered a full line-up with well known musicians such as Mikko Härkin (ex. Wingdom, ex. Sonata Arctica) Rolf Pilve (Stratovarius, Solution .45; drums), Tom Gardiner (Hateform, ex.Solution .45 Red Eleven; guitar. Due to Mats and his busy schedule, Christian Palin (Random Eyes, ex Adagio) was set to take care of the live duties on vocals. The band went on a hiatus in 2008. The plan was always to put the band up in motion again just waiting for the right time. It just took a few years longer than planned. It ended up being a seven years long break, but the year of 2017 showed indications that it would be time to re-start the engines.
