Biography
Matt Farley and Tom Scalzo began writing songs together as freshmen at Providence College in Rhode Island in 1996. By the time they graduated, they had recorded 100s of songs onto cassette tapes. After college, they continued to record album after album in legendary weekend-long recording sessions. They released Out With The Old in 2004. Seven more albums followed in the next 18 months, highlighted by the raw, energetic Moe's Haven and the elegant Sir Paul Made Ram. We Made This. In 2006, they released a staggering 12 albums, each named after the month they came out. This relentless songwriting experiment resulted in some of their best songs, including Rattletrap, Canadian Fisheries, and many more. Frustrated with their lack of success, Farley and Scalzo retreated for several years before releasing Stromboli's Alarm Clock, their last shot at making music that might connect with a more mainstream audience. Its release went unnoticed, and Moes Haven disbanded. Farley has gone on to write than 18,000 songs under dozens of monikers, while Scalzo has released just one album as Scalzo. They announced in 2014 that they will reunite for one last album in 2023. Time will tell if that's true.
