Biography

The whole idea behind the band Dark Roots started back in the year 2012, when Christian Larsson had grown tired of writing and playing metal music in various projects. He began to immerse himself more in blues and country, and explore how that kind of music is written. With many newfound influences, such as Tom Waits, Jace Everett, Chris Isaak and Blues Saraceno, he began to discover that it was both more fun and creative, but above all it was more challenging because there were no limits to how his songs should be built anymore. After many years of writing, he finally began to find his sound, both in his voice and in his music. While the voice still remained partially in the metal world, the music certainly had taken on a new, much darker tone. 
 During the summer of 2014, Christian moved from the southern part of Sweden, and settled in the northern part instead, in the city Umeå. This is when everything began to take speed. In the course of two years, he had written a bunch of new songs that finally started to fit well together. All he needed now was a creative counterpart. He spoke with his friend Christoffer Lindmark who began to produce the music, but also write a lot of it. Together, they became Dark Roots, a band with a unique sound that touches on metal, rock and country – but still with a firmly rooted identity in the dark soil of blues, both musically and lyrically.
