Biography
The Four Freshmen are America’s most enduring vocal group, now celebrating its 75th year of non-stop recording, performing, and touring—never going on hiatus, “rebooting,” etc. Even through the pandemic the group continued to travel and perform, keeping alive the sound they and so many others have come to adore. Best known for hits like It's A Blue World and Graduation Day, the group has released over 80 albums, earned 6 Grammy nominations, and appeared in numerous reader’s polls. The unique and innovative vocal harmony sound of The Four Freshmen has influenced and inspired such iconic groups as The Hi-Lo’s, The Manhattan Transfer, The Lettermen, and the legendary Beach Boys. After 75 years The Four Freshmen still happily pay tribute to the history and evolution of “The Freshmen Sound,” performing Freshmen classics from past with the same energy as Day 1, although they are also unafraid to break new ground through songs that strike a chord with listeners of any generation. Whether it be reimagining such classic standards as Put on a Happy Face and All the Things You Are, or profoundly evocative and energetic interpretations of iconic songs like Bill Evan’s Waltz for Debby or Antônio Carlos Jobim’s No More Blues, or even lesser-known dreamy gems like Easy Living, the listener will be taken on a sincere and energetic musical journey by four passionate musicians who love this music as much as anyone.
