Biography

There’s no reason to second guess it, singer-songwriter Aliah Sheffield (sometimes referred to as Nikki Aliah) has been placed on earth to bless us with her music. For her, it isn’t just what she does, it’s a way of life. It is within her spirit; heart; soul and lyric, that creative genius shines through.
Born in Newark, New Jersey and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Aliah has always been a singer. Her musical influences cover a wide range, from Deniece Williams, Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle, to Jazzmine Sullivan, Alicia Keys, Adele, Yebba, Jill Scott and Sza. Similar to those who influenced her musical journey, Aliah is a true performer and delivers a vocal uniqueness that separates her from the norm. While studying film scoring at Berklee College of Music she began to experiment with fusing genres, particularly soul and R & B, to create her unique keyboard driven style. Her songs are cinematic thoughts that create sonic experiences beyond routine conceptualization ... now let that sink in!.
“Earth is Ghetto”, for starters, is an original song written by Aliah while traveling abroad searching for a change of pace. The song highlights her pen game and attention to detail, her clever melodies, and her talents as a musician on the keys. Growing up, Aliah played a number of instruments with ease, including clarinet and saxophone. In high school, she was encouraged to explore the piano as she discovered her songwriting abilities.
