Biography
DeathPop is an indie rock band made up of Joel Zonoozi (lead vocals/guitar), David Nelson (lead guitar), Carlos Arellano (drums/vocals) and Chase Lund (bass). The members became friends in college, forming Deathpop and released their debut EP Nothing to Stop in 2021. In the year since their debut, Deathpop has been busy touring the west, playing shows around their home city of Phoenix, and exploring the boundaries of their sound. With inspirations ranging from Pavement and Whitney to Drop Nineteens and Beach Fossils, Deathpop’s unique blend of americana, indie, shoegaze, and pop rock finds new form in their single “Record This” and their upcoming EP. The Water Will Dry is both an affirmation of hope and a reflection on the sadness we can’t seem to shake. It’s about finding beauty in the world, but failing to get through to its creator. It’s about losing love, regretting missed opportunities. Eventually, someday the storm passes over our head, and the air smells clean and feels cool on your face. Don’t let the rain worry you, the water will dry. The members and producer George White spent long hours capturing and perfecting the sound of this project. From the broody, washed-out “Garden”, to the homey feel of the twangy “Up In the Clouds,” the band reinvents himself at every possible turn. Deathpop owes a lot to its fans; this wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for our many loving friends, families and supporters. To all of you, thank you for helping us do what we love.
