Biography
Shelhiel is the genre-bending multidisciplinary artist making waves in the region’s burgeoning English and Mandarin electronic pop scene. Hailing from Malaysia, Shelhiel’s music and distinct artistic genius has taken him across Southeast Asia and beyond; playing festivals and shows including SXSW, SIFA, Future Rising KL by Mixcloud & W Hotels , ASEAN Music Showcase Festival, Good Vibes Festival, to opening for international acts such as Tennyson, HYUKOH, Crystal Castles, 落日飛車 Sunset Rollercoaster and FKJ. Lauded by a wide plethora of publications, including NOWNESS, DJ Mag, i-D, NME, Bandwagon Asia, and AVYSS, as a poignant auteur and creative force, Shelhiel’s debut EP “SUPERSTROBE” was notably shortlisted as part of NME’s “The 25 Best Asian Albums of 2020”. His career highlights further span winning the Malaysian PWH Music Award “馬來西亞娛協獎 (Yu Xie Jiang)” award for “Best arrangement” for one of his productions - Shio’s ‘Extrication’, which was also picked up by Netflix as a theme song for ‘The Ghost Bride’. Another one of his collaborative works - ‘AAA’ with NYK, for which he co-wrote and co-produced has also garnered over 40 million streams on Chinese music platforms to date since its release in March.
