Biography

Algerian singer, composer, songwriter and performer, Amel grew up in Cherchell, in the region of Tipaza, Algeria. At 10, she joined the Andalusian music association El Kaissaria and later the National Orchestra of Algerian Andalusian music in 2004. Amel Zen is one of the iconic voices of the new Algerian music scene. Her first album "Amel Zen" released in 2013 mixes ethno pop, rock and chaâbi. In 2015 Amel released "Tlata" a title of the 18th century rearranged with pop rock sound that Amel calls "Musical restoration", being herself an architect. Very soon "Tlata" became a radio hit for several months on National and International radios, the patrimony song "Tlata" became widely appreciated by youth. Committed to many humanitary causes, particularly for children, Amel is a member of "Hbab l'Unicef" collective in Algeria, also committed to human rights, including the condition of women for equal rights for men and women and a true social justice. In February 2019, she joined the Algerian popular movement "Hirak" and participated in the music video "Libérez l'Algérie" and actively relay the protests. She released several songs to support the movement including "Hourra" , "Fajr el Hourria", "Arawen thelleli" to support opinion and politic detainees. Joussour, her 2nd album was released in January 2020, this new album is intended to create bridges between cultures and humans in a Progressive Rock/World style.
