Biography
The Debtors cash out on Southern charm and flair. Hailing from Lafayette, Louisiana, this close-knit quintet jumps from beachy to waltzy while remaining true to their indie-rock roots. Their lyrics are current yet nostalgic, intermingled with bouncy rhythm, twinkly strings, and sultry undertones. Vocalist Casey Umphries leads with effortless range, layered with buttery harmonies from guitarist Brandon Bourque. With Kyle McMahon on guitar, Shane Beard on bass, and Cole Stafford on drums, this group collectively curates back-to-back bops that are perfect for any occasion, from road trips out West to reflective nights in. The Debtors' debut album Simple State, released in 2019, is anything but simple and gave us just a taste of what's to come with bangers like "Highly Caffeinated" and "Ask Your Local Server". The band's 2021 EP, A Night Inn, bottles melancholy that echoes with self-awareness and soul. The band continues to release singles in the interim but have their fans hooked with anticipation waiting for their next album. Tune in to The Debtors to see what all the buzz is about!
