Biography
Zeytin, formed in 2014, is a Reggae-Rock band with an oriental twist from Istanbul, Turkey. The band's original songs are in both Turkish and English, and apart from playing at numerous venues and festivals across Turkey, Zeytin has also performed internationally at Seaspash/Goulash Disko Festival in Croatia, and also in Cyprus. Some of their most memorable concerts include the reggae festival in Istanbul where Zeytin opened for Mykal Rose from Black Uhuru), and the Çeşme Reggae Festival, which was the first Reggae Festival organised a national scale in Turkey. Zeytin also love performing for social causes, and enjoyed taking place in the UNHCR event held for refugee children on World Refugee Day. In 2016, the band was awarded first prize in the 20th Roxy Müzik Günleri (Roxy Music Days), one of the most prestigious music contest in Turkey. At the end of 2016, the band started a crowdfunding campaign to release it's first album. It was thanks to these contributions that Zeytin could independently work with Sinan Sakızlı in Hayyam Studios for the recordings, Emir Yeşil for the mixing, and Steve Corrao from Sage Audio for the mastering of their first album. Their Album “Merhaba Ben İnsan” (Hello, I am Human) was released on all digital media platforms via Tunecore in July 2017. Since then, Zeytin have released singles “Fight for Yourself (Istanbul Twilight Edition)”, “Vibration” and three Dub remixes to their songs collaborating with music producers from Beton Orman and more.
