Biography

Kontio Polaris is a Helsinki-based alt-rock band that started when high school friends Roope, Matias, Henri, and Joppe brought some demos to Ilari, who was going to produce their music. Eventually the pieces fell into place so well that Ilari joined the band and so Kontio Polaris was born. Kontio Polaris is an unapologetic mix of band driven rock, soothing synth layers and modern effects. Drawing from pop rock songwriting and alternative approaches their music is a journey where past and present intertwine and where wistful melodies meet sprawling alt- rock. Kontio Polaris is an ambitious project of five friends driven by their love for music and a desire to create something unique.  Kontio Polaris has gained attention in Finnish music landscape with single releases “Brother”, “Sleeping With The Waves” and "Paramount". Songs have gotten radio plays for example in YLE and Radio Helsinki and the band played their debut gig in October 2021 at Superwood festival. Their fouth release called "Eyes Wide Shut" is going to be out on April 2023. The song is an ethereal and majestic rock song, representing the distinctive sound that the band has become known for.
