Biography
Puma Blue is the alias of artist, producer & romantic, Jacob Allen. Originally finding recognition in the South London music scene for his falsetto vocal & dark, lo-fi textures, Puma Blue's music is noted for a blend of intimate fragility, sensual grooves & haunting, nocturnal ambience. His live shows are well regarded & oft-repeat attended, performing with a band of close friends & blending jazz-influenced improvisation with a vocal energy often likened to Jeff Buckley. After early online acclaim with a couple of SoundCloud demos, he first gained wider attention with his EPs Swum Baby (2017) and Blood Loss (2018). His debut album In Praise Of Shadows was released in 2021, followed by an hour long concert-film 'A Late Night Special' which was met with high praise, both for the visuals & performance. Now returning with a more band-focused sound inspired by touring, a second album ‘Holy Waters’ is set for a September 1st release, preceded by singles Pretty and Hounds. Jacob also frequently collaborates with friends & peers, such as Loyle Carner, Biig Piig, Lava La Rue, Babeheaven & long time confidant SALPA, garnering note for his prowess as a producer. Jacob has also been known to publish poems, make music under the moniker Ruby Bliels, as well as short films that are available on his YouTube channel. He has cited Portishead, D'Angelo, Donny Hathaway, Radiohead, J Dilla, Burial, & John Frusciante amongst his biggest influences, and is currently based in Atlanta.
