From the first whisper of her subtle-but-strong vocal on her new single “Attention,” it’s clear Lena Stone has found her place in pop… Or, perhaps, it’s where she was always meant to be. With an upcoming string of releases, the veteran artist launches into a new space, and while it might be surprising to some, it’s not to Stone. “In so many ways, pop makes more sense for me. I wasn’t raised on country music - I found country music,” Stone explains of her previous tenor in the genre. “Pop has always come so naturally to me. I grew up listening to James Taylor, Sarah Bareilles, John Mayer, Pink, and Britney Spears.” Stone gracefully enters the realm of pop, more confident in herself than ever before. Boasting a quartet of songs creatively directed and produced by Phil Barnes and all written largely herself during quarantine, the unfiltered nature of the latest bevy of tunes is evident on first listen. From the driving beat and earworm lyricism behind “Attention,” to the blissful and breezy deliveries on future releases “Taking Up Space” and “Lightweight,” Stone’s entry into the pop world will no-doubt be welcomed. “This project is the product of a girl that’s spent years collaborating with others on Music Row - but has spent more time in the past year turning inward and relying solely on herself to tell the story.
