Biography

TOTTEN KORPS, founded in 1989 in Santiago, Chile, is one of the extreme metal pioneer bands in Chile, as well as being an influential band for future generations of Chilean Death Metal. The band was born amidst the chaos arising from the military dictatorship ruling the country at the time, scenario that fueled the goal of recording their first demo “The King of Hell Reclaims his Throne” (1990) and subsequently their second demo “For the Infernal Resurrection” (1991). Through these two recordings, an obscure and morbid EP was born: “Our Almighty Lords” (1992). In 1993, the band signed their first record deal with Hellion Rec from Brazil, thus managing to cross the Chilean borders to disseminate their somber Death Metal throughout the globe. In 2000, TOTTEN KORPS signed with Spanish label Repulse Records, which led to the release of the band’s first LP: “Tharnheim: -Ati-Land-Nhi; Ciclopean Crypts of Citadels”, an album marked by an occultist/transcendental philosophical structure that took the band to be released in Europe, North America and Asia. Currently, TOTTEN KORPS holds a legendary status within the South American underground Death Metal scene. In October 2014, the band completed their second LP “Supreme Commanders of Darkness”, a dark, brutal and technical album, which also manages to preserve the old school roots.
